Lydia Assefa-Dawson is a Council Member of the City of Federal Way and the Family Self-Sufficient Coordinator at the King County Housing Authority. Her community and regional focus is on homelessness and financial stability in the South King County and surrounding Puget Sound region. She is a Financial Educator and Coach at the YWCA in Renton, where she facilitates financial education for survivors of domestic violence and provides one-on-one financial coaching. In addition, Ms. Assefa-Dawson serves as a Board Vice-President at the Ethiopian Community in Seattle.Lydia, originally from Ethiopia has lived in the United States for over 35 years. 

Lydia has earned a Bachelors of Science from Sterling College, Post Graduate Studies from Seattle Pacific University, and a Masters in Organizational Management from the University of Phoenix.

Lydia has served on the board since 2018. She is a King County Executive appointee.
