In 2008 the PHPDA provided more than $2 million to support health care access for the uninsured in Seattle – King County.

The PHPDA provided $874,697 to support specialty care services for the uninsured through a contract with Pacific Medical Centers. PMC served 907 individual patients in 2007. In addition, more than $115,000 in grants and other assistance was provided to King County Project Access.

An additional $685,500 helped fund interpreter services for thousands of medical appointments.

The PHPDA dedicated other funds to new initiatives, including a research study to examine gaps and problems in the referral system network, and the development of a database of local medical interpreters for use by public medical organizations.
