As the public steward of a legacy to serve the poor
and underinsured, the PHPDA leverages revenues from the rental of
Pacific Hospital and surrounding campus to focus on the following:
- Sustainable system changes to improve specialty
care delivery to the uninsured and underinsured.
- Increased access,
which is both measurable and significant, for the uninsured and
underinsured to receive specialty care in King
County.
- Credible measurement of the most effective ways to provide
healthcare access to the uninsured and underinsured.
The PHPDA supports this work through contracts and grants with other
local organizations.
Grants
In 2009 and 2010, the PHPDA awarded grants to the following organization(s):
- King
County Project Access
$150,000 in both 2009 and 2010 to support case management of uninsured patients for
specialty care services
- Seattle Children's Hospital
A $117,154 Grant (July 2009–June 2010) for a Patient Navigator pilot.
- Seattle Children's Hospital
A $125,000 Grant (July 2010-June 2011) for the second year of the Patient Navigator pilot.
Contracts
In 2009, the PHPDA made payments to Pacific
Medical Centers:
- $1,648,524 for specialty care for the uninsured
- $161,022 to support interpreter services for Medicaid patients.
In 2010, the PHPDA projects that it will pay more than $1.7 million to Pacific Medical Centers to underwrite specialty care for the uninsured.
