As the public steward of a legacy to serve the poor
and underinsured, the PHPDA leverages revenues from the rental of
Pacific Hospital and surrounding campus to focus on the following:
- Sustainable system changes to improve specialty
care delivery to the uninsured and underinsured.
- Increased access,
which is both measurable and significant, for the uninsured and
underinsured to receive specialty care in King
County.
- Credible measurement of the most effective ways to provide
healthcare access to the uninsured and underinsured.
The PHPDA supports this work through contracts and grants with other
local organizations.

$100,000 to support case management of uninsured patients for
specialty care services
Contracts
In 2007 the PHPDA awarded major contracts to the following organization(s):
- Pacific
Medical Center
$1.5 million to support the patient assistance fund and interpreter
services.
- MCPP Healthcare Consulting
To evaluate the specialty referral processes for uninsured patients,
focusing on specialty referrals from public health and community
health centers in King County to Pacific Medical Centers and King
County Project Access.
$78,000 for research and recommendations.
