for information on culturally appropriate care.
The
24 languages Project—Consumer Health Brochures in Multiple Languages
Electronic access to more than 200 health education brochures
in 24 different languages.
Cross Cultural Health Care Program
The CCHCP serves as a bridge between communities and health care
institutions to ensure full access to quality health care that is
culturally and linguistically appropriate in ethnic minority communities
in Seattle and nationwide.
Culture
Clues (produced by the University of Washington)
Culture Clues™ are tip sheets for clinicians, designed to increase awareness
about concepts and preferences of patients from the diverse cultures served by
University of Washington Medical Center. The tip sheets have been developed by
the Staff Development Workgroup of the Patient and Family Education Committee
at the University of Washington.

Promotes language and cultural competence to improve the quality of health care
for minority, immigrant and ethnically diverse communities.
EthnoMed at Harborview Medical
Center
A Web site containing medical and cultural information on immigrant
and refugee groups. The Ethnomed project objective is to make information
about culture, language, health, illness and community resources
directly accessible to health care providers who see patients from
different ethnic groups.
Health
Disparities Collaboratives
The Health Disparities Collaborative Web site is home for a community of learners
who are committed to improving health care and eliminating health disparities
for different minority populations, poor people and, in some cases, women. The
Collaborative calls for a transformation in the delivery of care to improve functional
and clinical outcomes and expand access to high quality, culturally and linguistically
competent primary and preventive care for underserved, uninsured and underinsured
Americans.
The
National Center for Cultural Competence
NCCC works to increase the capacity of health and mental health programs to design,
implement and evaluate culturally and linguistically competent service delivery
systems.
National
Council on Interpreting in Health Care
NCIHC is a multidisciplinary organization based in the United States whose mission
is to promote culturally competent professional health care interpreting as a
means to support equal access to health care for individuals with limited English
proficiency. Of further interest are the Working Papers developed by this organization,
found here.
NYU
School of Medicine Center for Immigrant Health
The Center for Immigrant Health's mission is to facilitate the
delivery of linguistically, culturally and epidemiologically sensitive
healthcare services to newcomer populations. It conducts research and
leads projects in several areas, including cultural competence, insurance & access,
cancer awareness and language initiatives.

of Minority Health Resource Center
The federal government source for health information on racial and ethnic minorities.
The
Provider’s Guide to Quality & Culture
A web site designed to assist health care organizations throughout
the U.S. in providing high quality, culturally competent services
to multi-ethnic populations.
Racial and Ethnic Approaches
to Community Health (REACH)
The REACH Coalition, which includes Seattle-King County Department
of Public Health, works cooperatively toward the goal of eliminating
diabetes-related health disparities among African American, Asian
American/Pacific Islander American, and Hispanic/Latino communities
in King County.
