The Patient Assistance Program at Pacific Medical
Centers provides health care for low-income, uninsured patients who
are not eligible for public insurance.
Patients who fall between 100% and 200% of the federal
poverty guidelines are charged on a sliding scale based on income
and family size.
PHPDA funds devoted to the Patient Assistance Program
are earmarked for specialty services for the uninsured, patients identified
as needy,
and those referred by community health centers and public health clinics.
Patients referred must complete a patient assistance program enrollment
form. (Spanish version)
In 2009, the PHPDA provided more than $1.4 million to Pacific Medical Centers
to underwrite specialty care services for the uninsured.

In 2007, prior to the System Change
improvements, 42% of referrals to Pacific Medical Centers were approved
and appointed.
