The Patient Assistance Program at Pacific Medical
Centers provides health care for low-income, uninsured patients who
are not eligible for public insurance.
Patients who fall between 100% and 200% of the federal poverty guidelines
(for a family of four, $21,200 –$42,400 in income per year)
are charged on a sliding scale based on income and family size.
PHPDA funds devoted to the Patient Assistance Program
are earmarked for specialty services for the uninsured, patients identified
as needy,
and those referred by community health centers and public health clinics.
Patients referred must complete a patient assistance program enrollment
form. (Spanish version)
In 2007 the PHPDA provided over $886,000 to Pacific Medical Centers
to underwrite specialty care services for the uninsured. In 2007,
PMC provided specialty care to 907 patients. PMC values the services
provided to these uninsured patients as $1,575,921 in charges.
