Gloria Burton is Senior Housing Developer and Director, farmworker Initiatives at Catholic Housing Services. In that position since 1996, Ms. Burton has initiated and established the "Creating Futures Initiative" designed to bring awareness and support to the workforce that maintains Western Washington's agricultural industry. In addition, Ms. Burton works on farmworker housing in the state of Washington and at the national level. Ms. Burton has assisted in the development of more than 500 units of farmworker housing in various counties, including a model to establish ownership for farmworkers. Ms. Burton's work includes building bridges in the local communities with government and private funders, state legislators, city and county officials, universities, and members of other organizations advocating for the farmworker community.
Ms. Burton's civic involvement and appointments include: Washington State Farmworker Housing Trust, Mujeres Northwest, Latino Civic Alliance, and Communities of Concern Commission.
Gloria has served on the board since 2018. She is a mayoral appointee.
