Technology Upgrade for Urban Minority Counseling Agency

Grantee: Consejo Counseling & Referral Service
Timeframe: July 2015-June 2016 | Amount: $50,000

This technology grant will transition Consejo from a sedentary programming model to an adaptive and responsive service through the use of mobile devices. Funding from the Nimble Fund will be used to purchase Thin Client laptop computers, transition our data storage to the Cloud, and enroll all staff into a single shared operating platform through Microsoft Office 365.

Health Coalition for Children and Youth Strategic Planning Project

Timeframe: July 2015-June 2016 | Amount: $40,000

The proposed strategic planning project will be completed within a one-year-period. The final, adopted plan will address health disparities among children in King County by engaging experts who are community members in a qualitative data gathering and analysis process. The final outcomes from this project, the analysis and plan, will ultimately guide HCCY’s work shaping health systems that impact children.

International Counseling and Community Services Expansion Project

Grantee: Lutheran Community Services Northwest
Timeframe: April 2015-March 2016 | Amount: $49,629

PHPDA funds will be utilized to establish a satellite office in Kent of LCSNW’s International Counseling and Community Services (ICCS) program. ICCS is located in South King County and primarily serves those living in Kent, SeaTac, Tukwila, Burien, Des Moines, and Federal Way. ICCS is a licensed community mental health agency with a focus on serving those who have survived war, torture, persecution, and oppression, and who have been further marginalized by language and culture. Services are provided in over a dozen languages, and via an interpreter if needed.

Smile Coach - Mobile Dental Hygiene Unit

Timeframe: April 2015-March 2016 | Amount: $50,000

The geographic focus of Smile Partners' "Smile Coach" project is south King County, where the organization will serve more than 40 elementary schools in 2015-16 and beyond through a mobile dental hygiene unit. These schools have some of the highest poverty rates in the county. Even though many families are eligible for Medicaid, local providers who accept it are few and far between. Smile Partners' preventive oral health program removes barriers to students' access to care by bringing the clinics directly to the schools.

Filling in the Gaps - Assessing Disparities in Coverage in Washington State

Timeframe: April 2015-March 2016 | Amount: $25,000

Funding from the Pacific Hospital PDA will enable EOI to collect, assess, and analyze existing data on health care accessibility, affordability, participation and coverage in Washington State and King County, with a focus on disparities by race, gender, and socioeconomic status.
