Grantee: Somali Health Board

Timeframe:   July 2020 - June 2021   |   Amount:   $150,000

Somali Health Board is the Fiscal Sponsor for Community Health Board Coalition (CHBC). The CHBC will conduct an asset-based, community-led assessment of the health priorities of eleven communities of color. This will lay the groundwork for building a comprehensive workplan and policy agenda.

CHBC will focus on: 1. Design an asset-based assessment of community priorities: Using a community-based participatory research approach, CHBC will identify assessment focus areas, data to be collected, data collection techniques, analysis approaches, and strategies to communicate back our findings to our communities. 2. Implement the assessment: Each individual community health board will implement the community assessment tool in a culturally-relevant way for their community. 3. Analyze data: The workgroup and consultant will analyze the results of the assessment and summarize findings. 4. Create a workplan for year two: By the end of year one, CHBC will plan to use assessment data to directly inform a workplan for year two that can support community-led priorities.
